Friends in Christ,

After lengthy consultation with our Sr. Warden Kathy Katter, fellow priests in the diocese, and Bishop Miller, I have decided to suspend all meetings, worship services, and gatherings at St. Mark’s through Saturday, April 4. This date is a best guess, and Kathy and I will be in continual conversation over these next hours, days, and weeks.

My best understanding is that we have a chance to slow COVID-19 infection rates by taking decisive social distancing steps right now, before a crisis is upon us and upon our healthcare system.

On Monday, look for a list of online offerings available from St. Mark’s — spaces where we can gather remotely over text, phone, or video conference. Each week will have opportunities for worship online, though the shape of that is not clear and won’t be for a few days.

I believe this is a Christian act of care for the greater community, though it grieves me not to gather with the people of God tomorrow. I have one of the best jobs in the world, and that becomes abundantly clear on Sunday mornings.

God bless you all,

Ian+
