Started as a response to the 2020 pandemic lockdown, our Thursday Night Book Club has grown into an exciting part of our adult education programming. Each week at 5 p.m., members of St. Mark’s come together for one hour on Zoom to discuss a few chapters of a book chosen by the group’s members, with a member of the clergy facilitating discussion. The club has read books ranging in topic from body shame to the nature of joy; the history of Islam to the relationship of botany to indigenous spirituality. Some representative authors include Nadia Bolz-Weber, N.T. Wright, Karen Armstrong, Desmond Tutu, and Thich Nhat Hanh. It is a fun, faithful, and deeply curious group.

Anyone is welcome to join at any time. Books are announced in the Friday newsletter as well as in the Sunday bulletin. The Zoom link to join is located on the parish calendar. For more information or to find out what book we’re currently reading, contact Fr. Burch.
