Acolytes
Acolytes serve as torchbearers and crucifers and are crucial players in our Sunday worship. During the service, they carry the processional cross and torches and light the altar candles. They also assist the priest in setting the altar for communion.

Ushers
Our ushers are often the first people that parishioners and visitors meet on a Sunday morning. They greet congregants, hand out bulletins, assist and orient newcomers, count attendance and how many take communion for our records and Diocesan reports, bring the communion elements to the altar, collect the offering, deliver the collection to the priest, direct parishioners for communion, and clean up the pews after the service. Our ushers also read intercessory prayers during the Prayers of the People. Ushers serve on a five week rotation.

Altar Guild
Altar Guild members work in teams to prepare the church for worship services, set the table for Communion, and clean up afterward. Each team handles this work about twice a month, preparing the linens, dishes, wine, and wafers before each service. They also wash the dishes and wash and iron the linens for each service.

Music
At St. Mark’s, we are blessed to have a number of talented musicians who help us to offer music in a variety of styles. One might hear traditional organ music and a jazz trio in the same service. The choir provides leadership for the songs that we sing, and offers anthems during the offertory. St. Mark’s is home to a wonderful array of Artists in Residence, musicians who share their talents with the parish community on a regular basis. St. Mark’s has an active music ministry, drawing talent from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus. Our music director, a professional musician and composer, shares his gift for music as part of his ministry. He helps develop musically talented parish members, invites local musicians to serve as Artists in Residence, and creates opportunities for members of our parish family to contribute musically to our services.

St. Mark’s Choir
The St. Mark’s Choir is a mixed voice choir for individuals ages high school and older. The choir sings at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service and at various services throughout the year. They provide leadership for the hymns and psalm tones, and offer anthems during the offertory. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and briefly before the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday mornings.

Artists in Residence
St. Mark’s has an active Artist in Residence program. Started and implemented by our Director of Music, St. Mark’s welcomes local musicians to provide music during our services and perform concerts for the community.
