The gospels call us to care for our neighbors and to bring healing to the world. We strive to be a community that lives out our faith by sharing our time, talents, and resources with individuals and communities in need.

Throughout the year, St. Mark’s hosts several fundraisers to generate support for organizations in the Milwaukee area and throughout the world. In recent years, the St. Mark’s Outreach ministry has contributed to the following organizations:

  • Our Next Generation
  • Sojourner Family Peace Center
  • Our Space
  • Pathfinders
  • East Side Senior Services
  • The Gathering
  • Hunger Task Force
  • Guest House
  • Meta House
  • Common Ground of Southeast Wisconsin
  • St. Anna’s Medical Mission
  • Episcopal Relief and Development
  • The Nambale Magnet School in Busia, Kenya
  • Central Asia Institute
  • The Haiti Project

St. Mark’s Outreach Ministry fundraisers include a Flower Sale (April—May), a Corn Roast at the Downer Classic Bike Race (last Saturday in June), and a Pumpkin Sale (month of October). Volunteers are always welcome to help out. Each year, the Sunday School children make a contribution to St. Marc’s School in Haiti from the proceeds from their annual bake sale.

In addition to generating funds for organizations that serve our neighbors in need, the people of St. Mark’s engage in numerous efforts to share Christ’s love with our neighbors and seek justice in the world. Our members volunteer as a group at the Gathering, an ecumenical ministry feeding hungry people in Milwaukee. St. Mark’s has hosted a Careers Night at Our Next Generation, a nonprofit that provides academic and social support services to at-risk youth in the central city. St. Mark’s hosts Lunch Bunch at University Christian Ministries, providing home-cooked meals to students.  Each week, we collect an offering of nonperishable food items for St. Casimir’s Food Pantry in Riverwest.  Our parish participates as a member of Common Ground, a community organizing group dedicated to identifying pressing social problems facing our community and bringing about creative solutions.
