The Christian life is a call to put hands and feet to our faith. We strive to be a community that lives out our faith by sharing our time, talents, and resources with individuals and communities in need.
Throughout the year, St. Mark’s hosts several fundraisers to generate support for organizations in the Milwaukee area and throughout the world. In recent years, the St. Mark’s Outreach ministry has contributed to the following organizations:
- Eastside Senior Services
- The Gathering
- Hunger Task Force
- Guest House
- Meta House
- Our Next Generation
- Sojourner Family Peace Center
- Common Ground of Southeast Wisconsin
- Episcopal Relief and Development
- The Nambale Magnet School in Busia, Kenya
- The Haiti Project
- Central Asia Institute
St. Mark’s Outreach Ministry fundraisers include a Flower Sale (April—May), a Corn Roast at the Downer Classic Bike Race (last Saturday in June), and a Pumpkin Sale (month of October).
In addition to generating funds for organizations that serve our neighbors in need, the people of St. Mark’s engage in numerous efforts to share Christ’s love with our neighbors and seek justice in the world. Our members volunteer as a group at the Gathering, an ecumenical ministry feeding hungry people in Milwaukee. St. Mark’s has hosted a Careers Night at Our Next Generation, a nonprofit that provides academic and social support services to at-risk youth in the central city. Each week, we collect an offering of nonperishable food items for the Riverwest Food Pantry. Our parish participates as a member of Common Ground, a community organizing group dedicated to identifying pressing social problems facing our community and bringing about creative solutions.
