The Gallery at St. Mark's: Variety is the Spice of Life

Brown Deer artist, Lynda Reitz, will have a solo show entitled "Variety is the Spice of Life" in St. Mark's Gallery from July 11th through September 3rd.

Lynda paints in most art mediums, such as acrylic, oil pastels, watercolor, colored pencil and pen and ink with acrylic wash. Her specialty is nature and landscape paintings.

A group from St. Mark’s will be visiting Meta House on Wednesday, May 26, at 1pm. Located nearby in Riverwest, Meta House offers residential treatment for women struggling with addiction. It is uniquely successful because children of addicted moms can live there too. Please join the group and learn more about Meta House on-site. Contact St. Marks with questions.

Start planning your garden, yard, balcony or patio plantings now! The order deadline is May 9th and plants will arrive on May 23rd. Take home extra order forms for your neighbors. The more flowers and herbs we sell; the more money we raise for Outreach projects. We still need workers to serve as check-out persons, cashiers and to help people to their cars with their orders on Sunday, May 23 from 9am to 1pm. We welcome your help. James Foskett, an orthopedic surgeon from Rochester, IL, will present his abstract paintings entited "What Does the Painting Want From You?" from May 2nd through July 9th in St. Mark's Gallery. Jim will be at St. Mark's on Sunday, May 2 from 10:30 until noon and give a presentation with Steve Wolff on the history of modern art and how it has influenced his paintings....."I don't know where a painting comes from or how I do what I do when I'm painting...the painting just happens...and I feel like I'm sort of dancing with it and listening to it and I ask it: what does it want in order to become what it needs to be: this more than making it what I want it to be"
