When I pick up my camera, I'm able to take a step back and appreciate the details around me. I start to notice the light through the trees - the colors of the leaves on the ground - the texture of the moss against the rocks - the dimples on my daughter's fingers - the laugh lines around my husband's eyes - I could go on and on. Photography is my outlet - it helps me keep tabs on myself as I can - literally - capture life as I see it. I opened Bright Eyes Photographs in February of 2011. Through my business I primarily photograph children and families. I also hold a Master's in Social Work and formerly worked with the foster care system - I think this background helps me bring a different perspective to family photography - those experiences help me reframe the "mundane" to find joy. Through this photography show, I get to showcase a different side of my photography. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity and hope others find some joy seeing the world through my lens.

I am at the beginning of what I see as a continuing journey of development as a watercolor artist. I find transparent watercolor to be a challenging medium and try to use its fluidity in a spontaneous way to capture the spirit of my images.

My architectural background results in my strong awareness of form and the definition of it, not only by shape, but by light, shadow, and value contrast and I work to use this in my paintings. Although my work is fairly realistic, I try to suggest images in
